Donna Downey in the house!

February 23rd, 2009

Here’s another cool item I will be auctioning off soon, an “INSPIRED” green tote bag from Donna Downey.  It’s her signature green color, kind of a vinyl-ish sort of material, zips closed, nice big shoulder strap, pockets on the outside (velcro closure), also pockets on the inside plus spots for pens or paintbrushes, and a zippered section.  And the best part?  AUTOGRAPHED.  Love that!

I love Donna and follow her blog regularly.  I’ve been lucky enough to have her come within a 2-hour distance from me and was able to take one of her classes back in 2007.  SO much fun!  Her “Inspired.Artist” event has sold out for the second year again.  She also has video workshops and kits you can purchase on her website here.

 Thanks so much Donna!

** edited to add……this bag is up for auction right now on ebay here.

The color of the bag is really what’s showing in the FIRST PHOTO.  I don’t know what happened with the second shot!  haha

**This is another post detailing donations I’ve received for the auction to try and raise funds for my trip to Canada to deliver Anita’s scrapbook to her.  If you’re a new reader to my blog and don’t know who Anita is, you can read my previous blog post here.  To see other donations I’ve received that will be put up for auction in February and March, you can go to the donations page here.

If you live in Texas…

February 22nd, 2009

The Scrapbook Studio is in the Houston/Clear Lake area in Texas, and the owner (Laurie) has generously offered to do a fundraiser crop and donate all the proceeds from that day to Anita.  All because my friend Dona emailed someone she knew (Tami) and then that someone emailed a bunch of people she knew and then here we are.  Such wonderful people are scrapbookers.

Dona is even making some door prizes for the event.  Tami is donating snacks and door prizes!  Lots of fun to be had here!  The date of this event is March 1 from 1 to 5 p.m.  The Scrapbook Studio’s address is 1849 El Dorado Blvd. in Houston.  The phone number is 281-984-7516.  Go to their website here and look at the photos.  This place is so beautiful!  It has a computer/printer and Cricut for your use and it has an embellishment bar, which I think is so cool, that you can pick embellishments from to use on your layouts, and it’s included in the cost of the crop fee.  Such a neat idea!

Thank you Dona for contacting all your peeps, and thank you Tami for contacting all your peeps and thank you Laurie of The Scrapbook Studio for offering to host this event.  What a generous gift you have all given to me (and to Anita)!

** Auction post **

I got another package with tons of tags to add to my auctions!  They are from Shabby Chic Crafts.  I love this store and have bought tags from them before.  I bought the darling wedding ones (bride and groom) and used those in the wedding album I showed on the blog here (last page).

Donation from Paperclipping

February 20th, 2009

*** Another auction post

Noell Hyman from Paperclipping has donated a free premium membership to Paperclipping!  I happen to have a membership and I LOVE her video tutorials.  They are so professionally made (by Noell’s hubby!) and she’s so creative and full of neat ideas.  Noell shares tips and tutorials and teaches how to do different techniques, different design principals, shares her beautiful layouts, and lots more.  She has some free videos too on her website, but with the premium membership you get access to tons more.  She also has a newsletter that I subscribe to, which you can sign up for on her website.

With a membership, you get access to all the video archives, plus current members-only videos in HD quality.  You’ll also get discounts on some special-edition project episodes, like her Holiday Altered Book.  She also has a ”schoolwork scrapbook” tutorial (which you can read about here), that I purchased a while back and loved.  I haven’t shown my schoolwork scrapbook project on my blog yet but will do that soon.

She also has a Paperclipping live show every week that you can watch on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. pacific, which means I have no idea what time to watch it at my house!  haha  You can find more about it here.  If you haven’t seen one of her videos, be sure to go check them out.  Then be sure to come back and bid on the membership (a $42 value).

Thank you so much Noell and Izzy!

Donation from Thea.

February 19th, 2009

***Auction post

My friend Thea donated this great Creating Keepsakes all in one scrapbooking kit to the Anita auction.  It is packed full of goodness.  I also like that it’s all spiral bound so you don’t have to spread it all over the place while you’re working with it, only take out that piece of paper you need or punch out that frame you need or whatever and don’t have to scatter everything.  Here’s what’s included inside this kit:

thea-donation-ck-kit.jpg

Four sketches with sample layout ideas for each one

rubon words sheet.  Also a rubon alphabet sheet not shown here.

There are 2 sheets of vellum quotes but I’m only showing one here.

There are 4 sheets of punchout cardstock items, quotes, frames, photo corners, words, etc.  Two shown here.

Cathy Zielske’s book!

February 17th, 2009

Cathy Zielske generously donated her book for my auction, Clean and Simple Scrapbooking The Sequel.  I happen to already own the book (and the previous one), and I love it.  This one is better than mine, because she even autographed it inside!  How cool is that?  Thank you Cathy!

Do you like Big Picture Scrapbooking?

February 16th, 2009

I’m a huge fan of Stacy Julian of Simple Scrapbooks Magazine (so sad to see it go) and I’ve also taken some of her classes at Big Picture Scrapbooking.  Have you?  I have 5 passes to Stacy’s “Glimpses” class at Big Picture Scrapbooking that will be going up for auction soon for my “Anita Auction.”   How cute is it that you also get a green mousepad with your class certificate?  Thanks so much to Stacy and Paula at BPS for helping me with my cause!

Here is the description of the “Glimpses” class given by Big Picture Scrapbooking:

Glimpses

Not all scrapbook projects are created equal. Some, like the album in this class, are just plain more meaningful and more important than others. Join Stacy Julian, Founding Editor of Simple Scrapbooks magazine, as she shares with you a unique 6″ x 6″ handmade book that she says every woman should create, whether or not she considers herself a “scrapbooker.” Says Stacy, when you use the colors and textures you love to celebrate what you know and feel, scrapbooking becomes easy and personal and oh so SIMPLE! In this project-based class, Stacy will help you generate ideas and content for your own Glimpses album and give you detailed instructions on the creative process of presentation. She also talks to you about what inspired her and share tips and insights into making this album a true reflection of who you are.

Stacy’s class includes:

  • Voice message from Stacy
    Supply list
Colorful step-by-step guidance and instruction for compiling a 6″ x 6″ book about YOU!
    Easy-to-use journaling template (Microsoft Word)
Bonus Quicktime movie to showcase Stacy’s album and inspire yours!

  • Private posting gallery to share your work with other students

Donations from Jill.

February 15th, 2009

I mentioned the other day that my friend Jill had sold a bunch of her scrapbooking supplies and donated money for my trip.  Then she sent me the pages she helped me make for Anita’s scrapbook and added in more supplies in the box for the auction.  The girl is GENEROUS!  If you want to know what auction I’m talking about and who Anita is, go here.  And then you can read the rest of the January and February posts to this point to see what’s been happening since I wrote that.

Here’s what Jill sent for the auction:

Want to take a class from Shimelle?

February 14th, 2009

**Another auction update…

** Then consider bidding on these when they go up for auction.  Shimelle has generously donated to my “Anita Auction” two spots in two of her classes.  One is called “Learn Something New” in September and the other is “Journal Your Christmas” in December.  I’ve taken Shimelle classes before, and I love them.  She’s SO creative.

You can read about the “Learn Something New” class on her blog from 2007 here to get an idea of what it will be like this year.

You can read about the 2008 “Journal Your Christmas” class on her blog here to get an idea of what it will be like this year.

Thank you, Shimelle, for donating to my cause!  You rock!
