Halloween cupcakes.

October 31st, 2008

Here’s a little peek at what Summer and I whipped up so she could take them to school.  I am no Betty Crocker, people.  Nooooo sirree.  This is the second try after how I frosted them the first time to look like brains didn’t quite work out the way I wanted.  But it was okay and since her classmates didn’t know it was Plan B they loved them and didn’t care!  :)

Autumn get well card.

leaves-get-well-brown-card.jpg(click photo to enlarge)

I made this little get well card to sell either in my etsy shop or the holiday bazaar next week, whichever comes first.  Used some fall/autumn colors and leaves to go with the current season, which feels like it won’t last much longer.  Sob….I hate winter!

Scrapbook your child’s schoolwork.

October 29th, 2008

I’ve been working on my daughter’s schoolwork scrapbook, and in the midst of all the sorting and throwing away I found something that was for sure a “keeper.”  I think this one is from kindergarten.  Normally if it’s something she just colored, it would go in the trash (don’t tell HER that, of course) but this one……this one is special because if you look closely you can see Summer added tears on the puppy’s face.  The puppy is crying.  When I asked Summer why he was crying, she told me he was sad because he missed his mommy.  Awwww…..   yep, he’s going in the scrapbook for sure.

Altered Bra. Pretty enough to wear!

October 28th, 2008

I showed a couple of sneak peeks before of my project that I was working on, but was afraid to show all of the photos because I had entered a contest and didn’t want to break the rules.  But the contest was over yesterday (I don’t know if I won or not), so I figured it was safe now to show you.  I made this for a contest for Breast Cancer Awareness month in honor of my aunt Teresa, who is currently battling the disease and has been to hell and back with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.  This thing was truly a labor of love.  It took 2-1/2 bottles of Prima flowers from the Got Flowers line, which apparently nobody sells anymore.  What?!?  I had to buy them from e-bay.  (I love e-bay) I stuck every one of those pink flowers on there by hand.  I started with glue dots, except I ran out of glue dots and then started using some clear liquid glue, and then I ran out of THAT, and had to start using Mod Podge.  After the flowers were all glued on, then I glued on each little jewel in the center of the flowers.  Some of the flowers I put a dot of Stickles glitter glue in the middle (in 3 different colors) instead of a jewel just to add a bit of variety.  My fingers were cramped and I could barely move them when I was finished!

My friend Klo suggested that it was so pretty I should pose with it on and take a photo for my husband.  I said, Um, I think the fat stomach that I’ve been growing right UNDER the bra might detract from the prettiness of the bra!

I *heart* Abby.

c-card.jpg

How cool is this card?  My buddy Abby is the only person in my 38 years who has actually shortened my LOOOONG name to give me a nickname.  She sent me a little goody bag in the mail and how awesome is she that she enclosed a card to me and even decorated the envelope?  Like she’s got all the time in the world on her hands, she draws that humongoid C on there and colors it in.  Abby, you rock!  I loved it and I LOVED what came with it.

I think the card might have been my favorite part, though.  It said:

Roses are red.

Violets are blue.

Just sent this card……

(inside)  for the hell of it!

Totally cracked me up!

Thank you Abby.  It was just what I needed!

Are you smarter than a 30-something year old?

Just look for a couple of seconds at this cute little wooden advent calendar.  Imagine you are shopping in the Michaels arts and crafts store.  Imagine you are me and thinking of buying it for your little girl, who is standing beside you begging you to buy it, of course, because she loves the idea of looking in all those little doors every day in the month of December and she wants to paint it herself.  You’re in a hurry to get to a birthday party and you’re about to be late.  There’s also no price on the damn thing (I HATE THAT), but you do have a 50% off coupon so it might be affordable…..blah, blah blah……..but you’ve only got a few seconds to think about it because you’re LATE as usual…….

See anything WRONG with this photo?

New cards in my etsy shop.

October 23rd, 2008

Just wanted to share a few cards I made and added to my etsy shop the other day.  I originally made them for the holiday bazaar coming up in a couple weeks, but figured I’d put them for sale in the shop first and see what happens.  I can always make others if I’m bombarded with orders!  LOL

We all live in a yellow submarine.

October 22nd, 2008

yellow-submarine.jpg

I’ve been reorganizing my scrapbooking studio and getting photos filed away where they need to be.  Some of the photos I printed myself 5-6 years ago I don’t like the looks of them, they’re starting to fade (cheap photo paper maybe?) and I’ve been scanning them and reprinting them through an online processor.  This is one of those photos.  We traveled to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum back in 2003 when Summer was 3 years old and that place rocks!  Here she is in an actual yellow submarine.  I love this photo because of her sweet little heart-shaped face and a little bid of pudge on her wrist and arm and her little curls at the ends of her hair.  Oh, I miss seeing those curls.  Why did I ever let that kid cut her hair off?  And how did 5 years go buy in the blink of an eye?

Designs by Summer.

October 21st, 2008

My kid loves to draw and lately she’s been designing clothes and sketching them out for the fun of it.  Maybe she’ll be a future Project Runway contestant?  I love how it all matches, right down to the shoes.  This one’s going in the scrapbook.
