The Ellen Degeneres show is coming to Chicago! I don’t live in Chicago, but I live close enough that I’m willing to drive there to see her. A friend of mine told me Ellen’s show was coming near me the other day, so I went to the website and requested tickets. Someone from their show called me the next morning to tell me I am the owner of 2 tickets! I nearly fell out of my chair. They’ll be sending me a letter with info about what time and where and all that stuff, and I sure hope cameras are allowed. I’m a scrapbooker, people. If I can’t take a picture, it will just make me sick!
Love you Ellen! I’ll see you soon!

I had the opportunity to go to the St. Louis Creating Keepsakes Convention this past weekend. It was the first time I’ve ever been to any kind of scrapbooking convention, so it was pretty exciting for me, plus a bonus was that I got to see 3 of my scrapbooker friends from other parts of the country!
My friend Klo is on the Pazzles design team, and she travels around to conventions and expos and sets up a booth to demonstrate and sell the Pazzles machine. I’ve seen her creations and oohed and aahed over them, but it was really cool to see this machine in real life in action making stuff. This thing is awesome! I wanted to buy one before I saw it in person, and now I’m really sold. Klo has made her own CD of designs that I talked about previously here, and she also gives tutorials for Pazzles owners and free cutting files for the Pazzles (or to cut by hand) on her blog here. Here are Klo and my other friend Jill working their magic in the Pazzles booth.
(That’s Stephanie in the front. Just met her. Hi Steph!) Jill is in the background. Does she have the cutest haircut or what? She hates it!
Here are the Pazzles girls the next day after a job well done at the convention and getting ready to go home.
My friend Thea drove 3.5 hours to my house, and then the next day I drove us 3.5 hours to St. Louis to the convention. I can’t wait to go to another one! By convention standards I’m told it was smaller than usual, which was okay with me. It took 3 hours to see every booth there and my feet hurt by the time we were done! Some big manufacturers of scrapbooking products were there like Rusty Pickle and Sizzix and Quickutz and SEI and there were stores there, some of them online stores that I have shopped at before such as www.dollarscrapbooking.net and www.scrappygourmet.com. The Scrappy Gourmet owner and her husband were just the nicest people! There was also a store called www.scrapbookoutlet.com where I bought stuff. My generous husband gave me $100 to spend and asked me to bring home any change that was left. Yeah right. Any scrapbooker will tell you, when you go scrapbook supply shopping there is NEVER any change left.
After the show was over on Saturday, my friends and I went to dinner. Another first for me, we went to Hooters. As if I didn’t already have body image problems! LOL Some of those waitresses looked like they were barely old enough to drive. But I did have a fantastic grilled cheese sandwich! Yes, people. I went to HOOTERS and had a grilled cheese! That’s just how I roll. I live right on the edge….

Okay, last week my hubby earned some BIG brownie points by finally getting all my cabinets and counter tops installed into my office/studio. They are so beautiful, I just want to sit in my chair at my desk and look at them all day. He works for a company that was going to throw them away! Wrong! But my hubby said, “Hmm…I think my wife could use those.” Um, yes sir. The only down side was that for about 2 weeks my office/studio was complete chaos and I couldn’t create anything cause all my stuff was in the living room and I couldn’t find anything and it was depressing to look at. It went from looking like THIS
to looking like THIS
Ain’t it purty?
Hubby still has to bolt down the counter tops and then I have to put all my scrap crap back on top of the counters. Would you believe I’ve already filled every drawer and I don’t have enough cabinets to hold all my stuff? And I already purged all my supplies and gave away/threw away stuff I won’t use. Twice. I’ll figure something out.
Thank you my darling husband. You made my day, my YEAR, with this little project. I can hardly wait to get busy creating things again!

I’m still recovering a bit from the last few days. At the last minute I had a friend call and say she had a friend with 4 tickets to High School Musical on Ice 2 hours away, so I got my best friend and her daughter, Summer’s best friend, to go with us. The show didn’t start til 7, so we had to leave at 4, long drive there, 5 cars wrecked on the way there, one car literally RIGHT BEHIND me went swerving back and forth a few times, obviously was losing control of the car, almost swerved into and hit the semi that was driving alongside both of us, but then just whipped out and spun a 360 and flew off the road. It was unbelievable. I happened to be looking in my rearview mirror at that moment, and I’ve never seen that happen before. Anyway, after the show, then another drive home 2 hours in the rain, I was exhausted.
Saturday I had promised Summer I’d take her to Build a Bear Workshop in Indianapolis if she paid with her own money, and the night before I decided to invite our best friends again to go with us, so we made a day of that, and I drove again, had a migraine by the time I got home, was exhausted.
But yesterday was the kicker. Summer had a birthday party at the roller rink for 2 hours. I was sitting at a table talking to a friend of mine, who has triplets that Summer has been friends with for 5 years now. Two of her triplet girls bumped into each other and one fell down on the carpeted area, was screaming and crying and wouldn’t get up. My friend and & walked over to her thinking she was being dramatic (because they sometimes do that) or that she had broken a bone! I was standing above her and Laura bent down and was saying, “Come on, you’re okay, get up” when all of a sudden she just froze and her eyes rolled back in her head and she stopped breathing. Laura noticed it before I realized what was happening and she starts shaking her by the shoulders and screaming her name over and over. I totally forgot I had a cell phone right in my pocket and was yelling at someone to call 911. She was shaking her so hard she had her halfway sitting up and all of a sudden she blinked and was back with us and started crying. Scared the shit out of me, people. She told me later that she could hear mommy screaming at her but she doesn’t know why she couldn’t talk and she couldn’t see us either. I still want to just bawl writing about it here. It really freaked me out. I’ve never seen that happen to a kid before, and I just keep thinking if it freaked ME out, what her mom was going through. She was so relieved when her daughter woke up that she started crying and then said later she was embarrassed. I was like, “Are you kidding me? I wanted to cry myself and it wasn’t even my kid!” She stayed for the rest of the party like a little trooper and just was saying that her arm hurt and she didn’t want to move it, so when the party was over Laura took her to the ER and they put her arm in a cast and said it might be broken. They said it it didn’t look like it but that she was probably in so much pain that it made her have this shock reaction type thing and because of that they thought she might have a hairline fracture or something that the x-ray didn’t pick up so she has to see a pediatric orthopedist sometime.
Holy shit. What a week. Now there’s a story for the scrapooks!
